Researchers at Duke University Medical Center report finding new ways to combat the inflammation that leads to overactive immune response using polymer molecules. This discovery provides a new direction of the potential treatment of inflammatory diseases associated with hyperactive immune system such lasix 12 mg as multiple sclerosis and lupus. Opening published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal. Duke University researchers used molecules called polymers to scavenge coming from damaged cells into cells of the immune system to become abnormally active that could lead to the development of some autoimmune diseases like MS. According to Bruce A. Sullenger, Ph.D., Director, Duke Translational Research Institute and lead author of the study, depending on the disease, cells that were damaged disk or perpetuate immune response. We showed that we can prevent this process. The new approach came with the early findings, researchers Prince, and others who are dying and damaged cells spill nucleic acids, which then circulate in high levels in the blood. Nucleic acids are considered as building blocks of life, including DNA and RNA. They regulate many important functions, while inside the cell. But when nucleic acids are out of cell damage, they are powerful triggers for the immune system, indicating that something is wrong. This makes the immune system start attacking fight anything that can cause cell damage. In normal circumstances this type of response usually restores order. But when the immune system in this case, becomes hyperactive, it can lead to tissue damage and inflammation, as seen in diseases such as lupus, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, psoriasis and similar immune system related conditions. Researchers at Duke University focused on a set of molecules called nucleic acid binding polymers that can bind to nucleic acids that come in damaged blood cells. He was considered stripping approach that worked in experiments on mice. We could use polymers as molecular sponges scavengers to walk around and absorb and neutralize inflammatory nucleic acids, so that the immune system does not recognize them and go into overdrive inflammation, said Sullenger.
